Abstract. Saeed YS, Ali JF, Mohammed MA. 2023. Chemical composition, antioxidant, and antibacterial activity of Ruta graveolens (Rutaceae). Biodiversitas 24: 3162-3168. The present study was carried out to investigate the antioxidant activities phenolic components isolated from leaves L. compounds were extracted in different organic solvents (hexane, ethanol, ethyl acetate) analyzed by column chromatography, thin-layer high-performance liquid chromatography. Three discrete fractions collected subsequently examined: one acetate extraction (I) two ethanolic (II III). No hexane obtained. In particular, HPLC analysis which contained most bioactive compounds. major ethanol extracts catechol coumarin (1.104966 16.612227 mg/kg), followed hydroquinone (0.144731 1.90781 mg/Kg), whereas, resorcinol (14.78298 21.75253 mg/kg). extract had highest level activity, other effects at levels; because three fractions' chemicals have varied redox characteristics, their impacts vary strength. inhibition zones (mm) Bacillus cereus Staphylococcus aureus 24 ?g/mL for II I 23 22 mm, respectively. At ?g/mL, Escherichia coli Proteus vulgaris 21 20 Fraction did not show 1.5 µg/mL. Finally, study's results suggest that using R. may be a natural source antioxidants anti-infectious agents.

Chemical composition, antibacterial and antifungal activities of Ruta graveolens L. volatile oils

The Ruta graveolens L. (Rutaceae) plant is used medicinally as a homeopathic remedy in various areas of the world. In this study, volatile oils were extracted from the areal parts of the plant which was collected from southern India, then investigated for its chemical constituents and antimicrobial activities. The volatile oils were extracted by hydrodistillation using a Clevenger apparatus and...

Anti-tumour activity of Ruta graveolens extract.

An extract of Ruta graveolens was found to be cytotoxic to Dalton's lymphoma ascites (DLA), Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) and L929 cells in culture (IC100=16 mg/ml) and also to increase the lifespan of tumour bearing animals. The extract further decreased solid tumours developing from DLA and EAC cells when given simultaneously with elongation of the lifespan of tumour-bearing animals. A home...

Volatile Composition of Ruta graveolens L. of North of Iran

The chemical constituents of the essential oil of Ruta graveolens L. from aerial parts collected from Iran were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The oil yield of the dried plant obtained by hydrodistillation was 0.4% (v/w). Nineteen compounds, representing for 95.2% of the oil, were identified. The main classes of compounds were found to be ketons(46.6%) and sesquiterpenoids (13.3%) and monoterpenoids...

Up and down: stamen movements in Ruta graveolens (Rutaceae) enhance both outcrossing and delayed selfing.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Stamen movements directly determine pollen fates and mating patterns by altering positions of female and male organs. However, the implications of such movements in terms of pollination are not well understood. Recently, complex patterns of stamen movements have been identified in Loasaceae, Parnassiaceae, Rutaceae and Tropaeolaceae. In this study the stamen movements in Rut...
